If you’re about to restore a tooth with a dental crown, then our dentist, Dr. Ryan Ross, is happy to help you prepare for your appointment. If you know what to expect with the treatment, there is a good chance you might feel more calm and comfortable in the dental chair. So, he is happy to help you know what to expect by listing the treatment steps here:
Step No. 1: Your dentist will numb the tooth and surrounding gums with a local anesthetic. If necessary, he will provide you with light sedation.
Step No. 2: Your dentist will trim the tooth enamel of the tooth to make room for the dental crown. If he doesn’t trim the enamel, the crown won’t fit over the tooth.
Step No. 3: Your dentist will make impressions of the tooth and will send it to a dental laboratory where your crown will be made.
Step No. 4: Your dentist will cover your tooth with a temporary crown so you can use it while you wait for your permanent crown to be created.
Step No. 5: When the permanent crown is sent to our office, you will come back for a second appointment. There, your dentist will cement the dental crown over the tooth with a special dental product.
